.ZUERICH is the new top-level domain for the Canton of Zurich in Switzerland, linking together common interests and providing a common image for both public institutions and business entities associated with the location and destination.
This TLD is mainly catered for the public authority or business entities within the Canton of Zürich so there is a strict eligibility requirement.

Registration[edit]
The electronic application can be initiated through our webinterface or API as usual, but for .ZUERICH registrations additionally a special parameter is needed:

X-ZUERICH-UID - Enterprise Identification Number (UID) X-ZUERICH-AGREEMENT = 1
Registrants must be either a Zurich Public Authority (including the Canton and City of Zurich and related entities) or a legal entity (Rechtseinheit) in possession of a commercial registration number (Unternehmens-Identifikationsnummer) with a registration in the Commercial Register of the Canton of Zurich.
If you're a Zurich Public Authority, you can add the word "PUBLIC" in the UID field.

X-ZUERICH-AGREEMENT = 1 indicates that the registrant accepts the local laws of the Canton of Zurich at https://www.zh.ch/de/politik-staat/gesetze-beschluesse/gesetzessammlung/zhlex-os/erlass-754_2-75-645.html.
During EAP and GA, the domain registration will go into a 'Pending Create' stage as the registry will check the UID manually. Multiple applications of the same domain name can be made while waiting for the registry to validate the UID. The registry will review domains on a first come first served basis and will decline all other applications if one is already accepted. If your application is unsuccessful, your EAP or GA fees will be refunded.
Authorization code[edit]
There are special requirements regarding the format of the authorization code. Please consider the following restrictions, if you want to assign a new authorization code to a .ZUERICH domain:
- Minimum 8 characters
- having at least one (1) numeric,
- one (1) alphabetic, and
- one (1) special character
You may generate a valid random auth code by adding this parameter to the ModifyDomain command:
